Local lawmen’s tenacity paid off

Published 5:58pm Friday, July 6, 2012

We congratulate the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies, who made a major drug bust Tuesday, helping to shut down an illegal marijuana farming operation in the county.

While there are those who may argue that marijuana should be legalized, the fact remains that the drug is illegal right now, and we should support our lawmen in their efforts. It took almost two years of investigation, but the Sheriff’s Office’s tenacity paid off this week when a warrant was obtained and the arrests were made.

Drugs continue to be a major cause of other violent crimes and strife in the world, and we applaud the efforts of those law enforcement officials who fight diligently to eradicate them from our communities.

This is a bullsquat story, a fluff piece penned by someone who is misinformed. This story is designed to provide cover for law enforcement so they can justify the expenditure of 2 years worth of scarce resources to find a handful of plants. Simply shameless!
