Special to The Post-Searchlightheads
Colquitt, Ga., will be hosting its 29th National Mayhaw Festival the third weekend in April (April 20-21) at Spring Creek Park.
Friday night’s “Concert on the Square” will feature local and regional entertainers. Bring lawn chairs, pick up dinner at restaurants on the square, and enjoy gospel, country and old time rock ‘n roll. Music begins at 6:30 p.m. And get ready to “Dance in the Streets” until 10:30 p.m.
Saturday starts with 5K Run and 1 mile walk — Parade through the Square at 10 a.m.
Then it’s on to the “Festival at the Park” for the rest of the day: arts and crafts vendors, children’s activities and lots of food will be available.
Entertainment, including the Miller County School Chorus and Band, local and regional entertainers and a gospel concert featuring “Royal City,” will be performed at 1:30 p.m.
While in Colquitt enjoy Georgia’s Agricultural Icon and 14 other murals — see the carved tribute to the American Indian and get tickets to “Mayhaw,” a musical comedy at Cotton Hall.
