Saturday morning’s dreary weather did nothing to hinder Mission22’s inaugural ruck march event. A veteran’s advocacy group, Mission22 aims to combat veteran suicide, providing a “non-invasive community” for veterans and first responders, as well as civilian participants, to “heal and continue to stabilize their mental health and overall wellness.”
Apart from the members of Mission22, the Bainbridge High School JROTC joined the march. The group left from the YMCA parking lot first thing Saturday morning, making their way down Shotwell Street, crossing Willis Park, and finishing at the Chamber of Commerce, where the organization had set up a booth for Rivertown Days.
“I think it went better than expected today, by a long shot,” said Mission22 ambassador Aaron Dasilva.
Dasilva further stated that Mission22 hopes to expand and become involved in future community events. “We just want to keep it going, and keep it growing.”
