Today at 1:30 p.m., the Bainbridge High School gymnasium witnessed a moment of immense pride and joy. Amarion Donaldson, a remarkable three-sport athlete playing football, track, and baseball, will be taking the next step in his athletic journey, signing to play football at Georgia Military College.
Donaldson, who played linebacker for the Bearcats, was honored as the Region 1-3A Defensive Player of the Year this past December. His outstanding defensive play, characterized by his strong tackling, quick reflexes, and impressive game awareness, has not only made him a standout player but has also earned him significant recognition.
Through relentless training, dedication, and a strong work ethic, Amarion has parlayed his exceptional on-field performance into high accolades, paving the way for a bright future in football. His efforts and perseverance have culminated in securing a football scholarship, allowing him to take his talents to the next level in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics).
This scholarship is a testament to his passion for the sport and his commitment to excellence. It opens the door for him to continue growing as an athlete, to compete at a higher level, and to further his education, all while doing what he loves.
Donaldson’s dedication, discipline, and determination have brought him to this pivotal point. His hard work, perseverance, and unwavering zeal for sports have elevated him to the status of outstanding athlete and inspired his teammates, coaches, and the entire Bainbridge community.
His journey is a testament to the power of resilience, the importance of teamwork, and the rewards of never giving up on one’s dreams.
“I didn’t see myself playing football at the next level a couple of years ago,” Donaldson said. “But I worked hard for it. Every coach I’ve got in contact with at Bainbridge has pushed me to be great.”
Donaldson gravitated toward GMC due to its coaches, facilities, and play style. GMC’s defensive coordinator, Thad Turner, raved about Donaldson’s football background and his ability to one day play at the FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) level.
“When we watch the film, we analyze all the seniors out of Georgia,” Turner said. “Early on, we saw Amarion to be high on our board. He stayed there after watching everybody. We think he comes from a good football background and foundation where we can build him up where he can play at an FBS level. He has high potential and we’re excited to get him on campus.”
