Elizabeth Ann Burrell was born January 6, 1947, in Jefferson County, KY, the daughter of James & Elizabeth Durden Burrell. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree from Georgia State University in Accounting. Bette lived in Metro Atlanta most of her life and worked for 40+ years as a Certified Public Accountant. She was Baptist by faith.
Growing up as a pastor’s daughter, Bainbridge and First Baptist Church were “home” to Bette. The fast pace of “metro” life kept her on the move and right in the middle of the action. For Bette, relaxing meant breaking out the knitting needles or trying out a new recipe. Of course, during football season, nothing else mattered except the scoreboard for the Georgia Bulldogs. Bette stored a plethora of knowledge down to recruiting statistics on her favorite SEC team just in case someone needed a little convincing.
Survivors include her cousins, Ted Burrell, Ann Judson Pinson, Charles Burrell, Harold Burrell, Dick Burrell, Jimmy Burrell, Dieter Burrell, David Burrell, and Jan Reynolds, as well as a host of extended family. Bette was preceded in death by her parents.
Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
