Jimmy D. White, born on March 29, 1931, in Decatur County, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 93 years old.
Jimmy was the beloved husband of the late Jean White, with whom he shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised two sons, Jim White, Jr. and Hal (Michelle) White of Fayetteville, Georgia. Jimmy was also a proud grandfather to four grandchildren, Haleigh (Brad) Uzzell, Heather (Taylor) Hasty, Brittany (Rick) Coller, and Hunter White and his fiancé, Lauren Boag. He cherished his role as a great-grandfather to four beautiful great-granddaughters, Addison Hasty and Peyton Uzzell as well as two more on the way.
A dedicated public servant and educator, Jimmy honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he devoted over 30 years to educating young minds, culminating in a 17- year tenure as a principal in the Fayette County Schools. He retired in 1987, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and passion for education.
Jimmy was also a devout member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He found great joy and fulfillment in serving his church and its congregation.
A service to honor Jimmy’s life and legacy will he held at 3:00 PM on Monday, September 23, 2024, at Fayetteville First Baptist Church in the Overton Chapel with Reverend Glenn Stringham officiating. A burial will follow the service at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
Jimmy D. White will be deeply missed by all who know him. His kindness, dedication, and love for his family and community will be remembered and cherished forever.
