Amy Wheeler Barber, age 46, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Donalsonville Hospital in Donalsonville, Georgia. Services for Mrs. Barber will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Bethany Baptist Church, 216 Bethany Church Road, Brinson, Georgia. Pastor Avery Hutto will officiate. The interment will follow in Bethany Church Cemetery. Jason Glass, Aubrey Hand, Mark Lashley, Spencer VanHousen, Travis Carver, and Chris Goff will serve as pallbearers. The Administration and Staff of West Bainbridge Primary School will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends before the service beginning at 10:00.
Amy Wheeler Barber was born July 19, 1978 in Bainbridge, Georgia to Julian Alan Wheeler and Lavada Bernice Aldridge. She married her true love and best friend, Michael Roy Barber. She and Michael have been married for 23 years. Amy was a teacher at West Bainbridge Primary School. She was born to teach. She was gifted in reaching primary students and has been in the classroom for 27 years. Her love for each of the children was astounding. The kids felt how much she cared and loved her in return. Amy loved to travel, and she and Michael enjoyed many trips together. She loved Disney and collected nutcrackers and anything with chickens. Amy was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and had recently enjoyed visiting Immanuel Baptist Church. Amy loved family gatherings and absolutely every member of her family. Actually, Amy loved everyone she met. She invested her time and talents into so many people and left each one a better person. She was generous with her time and her kind, caring words. Amy Wheeler Barber will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Barber is survived by her husband, Michael Roy Barber; parents, Alan Wheeler and Bernice “Bea” Bush; brother, John Wheeler (Heather); grandfather, Earl Aldridge; great aunt, Frances Justice; nieces and nephews, Devon and Kelsey Burke, Spencer, Preston, and Sarah VanHousen; special cousins, McKenzie Hand, Aubrey Hand (Addison), and Graydon Hand; Godson, Clayton “C.J.” Glass; and many other deeply loved family members; last, but not least, her fur baby, Bella. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Julian and Edith Wheeler and Lavada Aldridge.
