Laura Ann Avery, age 63, passed away on May 28, 2023, at her home in Bainbridge, Georgia.  Services for Laura will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00.

Laura Ann Avery was born in Bainbridge, Georgia, on April 2, 1960 and grew up in Climax, Georgia.  During high school, she worked as a nursing assistant.  Laura graduated from Bainbridge High School after which she enlisted in the United States Army.  She proudly served and excelled as a member of the armed forces.  Laura spent time in Alaska and California before returning home to give birth to her twins, Charles and Rosanna.  Laura was a hard worker and in addition to her role as a single mother of 3-year-old twins, she attended nursing school where she graduated with honors. Among her awards were the Florence Nightingale Award and the Clinical Achievement Award.  She served her community in the field of nursing for 20 years where she especially loved working with the elderly.

Laura was one-of-a- kind.  You always knew where you stood.  She faced many obstacles in her life but never let them get the best of her.  On any given day, you would find her lending a hand to her neighbors such as providing rides to doctor’s appointments or taking them to the grocery store.  With a heart for the underdog, she was always thinking of others.  Her children and grandchildren owned her heart and were her pride and joy.  Laura lived her life unapologetically and on her own terms.  She left a lasting impression on all who met her.  She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
