Mr. Trawick was born August 2, 1936, to Denver Denmark Trawick and Ollie Godby Trawick, John Emory resided in Seminole County his entire life. One of his favorite questions to ask was, “Do you know the first thing I’d do if I ever moved out of Iron City? Move back.” John Emory loved his career as a farmer and rancher and was also quite the innovator. He was co-owner of a Purina feed store (Trawick Equipment and Supply), raised catfish and served catered suppers at his cook cabin, founded the Peach Depot where he not only harvested his own peaches, but also strawberries, watermelons, and various other vegetables. And of course, the ice cream served at the Peach Depot was legendary! He bought his own sawmill and built stools, swings, and several barns. He never sat still for long and especially enjoyed fishing and spending time at his cabin on Spring Creek with family and friends. John Emory had quite the mischievous side, but those details can’t be shared here to protect those friends who may have accompanied him on some of his adventures.

John Emory married Dorothy Ann Parker on June 30th, 1960 – her 20th birthday – because he said he wouldn’t marry a teenager. They spent the next 62 years setting a wonderful example of what true devotion should look like. They have two children, Art Trawick of Iron City and Sha Trawick Maddox of Tallahassee, and two grandboys, Jack Maddox and Denver Maddox, both of Tallahassee.

John Emory is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren as well as his sisters, Ina Fowler of Donalsonville and Gail Sullivan of Smith’s Station, Ala., and brother Dee Trawick (Anne) of Iron City as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family is so grateful for the loving care provided by Annie “Mae” Henderson Johnson and Agape Hospice over the past few months.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Mt. Lou San Bible Camp, 2200 Blue Mountain Pkwy, Harrisburg, PA 17112 or First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1026, Donalsonville, GA 39845, would be appreciated by the family.
