Thursday evening saw families gather in the Grace Christian Academy gymnasium for this year’s GCA sports banquet. This banquet honored all this year’s high school sports teams, both fall and spring sports.

While all team members received a certificate, a select few from each team were recognized with unique awards that varied from sport to sport, including things like Defensive and Offensive Player of the Year awards.

One award that was the same across all sports was the Christian Character Award. The recipients were as follows: Cheer- Hannah Friedman; Soccer- Ben York; Volleyball- Sawyer Holt; Basketball (girls)- Reagan DeLanoy; Football- Kevin Brooks; Wrestling- Evan Sigman; Golf- Isabella Rentz; Baseball- Keith Eidson; Cross Country (boys)- Jay Lanier; Cross Country (girls)- Sybil Lee; Basketball (boys)- Kevin Brooks; Varsity Tennis- Kevin Brooks, Grier Albritton; and Dance- Mary Margaret Beckham.

Aside from the Christian Character Award and various awards for each sport, this year’s Senior Awards were: Scholar Athlete- Mallorie Jordan; Male Athlete of the Year- Kevin Brooks; Female Athlete of the Year- Katherine Griffin.
