Mrs. Owens was born on January 16, 1940, in Climax, Ga., to the late Charles Owen Worn and Rosa Layton Worn.  On August 18, 1956, she married Albert Elton Owens, who preceded her in death on April 21, 2000.  She and her husband owned Cairo Furniture Company for over 30 years.  After closing the store, she went to work with Kingdom Insurance Group where she retired from in 2017.  Geneva was a member of Capel Baptist Church for 61 years.  She and her husband spent many years picking up children and taking them to Capel to grow in their relationship with our Heavenly Father. She was VBS Director, Youth Director, and Sunday School Teacher for so many years, ministering to them with a heart of love that God had given her. To almost everyone, she was known as Nanny or Aunt Geneva.  After Geneva moved in with her daughter and son-in-law, she joined Pine Hill Baptist Church in 2017.

Geneva was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She would be the first to come to mind when you needed an extra hand or that extra prayer.  Even in the last days, she would ask to have her Bible so she could read a few chapters.  Her forever best friend, Winnie Prince, held such a special place in her heart.

Survivors include: her daughter, Faye Kelly (Max) of Cairo, Ga.; grandchildren, Aimee Jowers (Chris) of Cairo, Ga.; Max Kelly, Jr (Sandra) of Hosford, Fla., Heather Kelly of Phenix City, Ala.; great-grandchildren, Ren Whitley, Anna Grace Whitley, both of Cairo, Ga., Aurora Kelly of Hosford, Fla., and soon to be born, Erin Geneva Kelly of Hosford, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Betty Worn of Reynolds, Ga., Virginia Worn of Ashburn, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; brothers, Charles O. Worn, Thomas “Tommy”, Hiram Worn; and sisters, Vida Leigh Barbaree and Christine Morris.
