Sarah Collins Nelson, 78, of Climax, passed away Friday, March 17, 2023.

Sarah Elizabeth Collins was born May 19, 1944, in Cairo, Ga., the daughter of Robert & Ethel Keene Collins. She was a graduate of Cairo High School. Sarah married Durward Nelson in 1964, and they made their home in Climax. Sarah retired as manager for Shoe City and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. 

Crowds were never where Sarah wanted to be. She had a quiet spirit and enjoyed gardening, tending her flower beds, babying her koi fish, and spending time with her family. Though Sarah was reserved, she had a sassy streak and could be feisty when the need arose.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Durward D. Nelson; her daughters, Pamela Nelson Kirkland of Climax and Kimberly Nelson of Niceville, Fla.; her grandchildren, Chris, Brittany & Joe, Aerin, Hayley & Ryan, and Macayla; her great-grandchildren, Remington, Harper, Peyton, and Brooke; and her siblings, Ann White (Bill) of Cotton, Ga., Judy Whitaker (Bradley) of Bainbridge, Daniel Collins (Fran) of Cairo, and Larry Collins (Deb) of Harrisburg, Pa. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents.
