City work crews have been fairly busy lately, with multiple paving projects having been completed recently, including Troupe Street and Bruton Street, and more on the horizon. City engineer Gabe Menendez spoke to the Post-Searchlight about the projects, clarifying what exactly is being done and what streets to expect work on in the coming days.

With paving completed on Bruton and Troupe Street, crews are currently working on Julia Place and Julia Circle. Before the end of the month, the Donalson Street/Water Street intersection will also be paved, with the remainder of Donalson set to be paved in conjunction with the Chason Park development. Likewise, Jackson Street will be paved in conjunction with the Chason project. Additionally, the street curbing for Clark Street will be revised, and paving for it has been scheduled for early April. In conjunction with the Clark paving, Broughton Street is also scheduled for paving in early April. All projects (with the exception of actual utility work) has, according to Menendez, been funded by TSPLOST/LMIG.

“Those project that are exclusively paving project are routine, the other projects are part of the Downtown Redevelopment/Improvvement Projects,” he explained. “Your City crews are working hard to provide a quality product and appreciate your patience and understanding for any inconvenience that these projects may pose to your downtown travels.”
