The Earle May Boat Basin was awash with crowds on Saturday as people from near and afar came for this year’s Rivertown Days. There was no shortage of things to do, and unlike previous years, the weather was fair for the event.

Kids had several small carnival rides to enjoy, as well as face painting, pony rides, trampoline bungee jumps and a petting zoo. Home Depot also sponsored a kid’s crafts workshop tent. For adults, there was the River Rummage, a corn hole tournament, a BBQ contest (with MetroPower winning both Best Overall and best Wings), as well as 60 vendors and live music. The event culminated with a live performance by Colt Ford that evening.

Ford was not the only celebrity guest to appear, with Congressman Sanford Bishop showing up earlier in the day to deliver a few remarks. “It has been wonderful to see Bainbridge grow and thrive, and it has been my honor to represent this community in Congress,” Bishop said. “One of the most satisfying parts of my job is seeing the arc of work we do in Washington DC come home to the people we serve… Today is a showcase of all the best things that Bainbridge has to offer, it is a celebration of community, and how we are stronger together.”

According to outgoing Chamber president Lauren Minor, an estimated 10,000 people attended the event this year. “Overall it was a wonderful turnout,” she said, saying that people from the all over the tri-state area attended. “Overall, this year’s River Town Days was a 10/10! Great weather, great participation, wonderful attendance, and community support,” she continued. “We’d like to thank the businesses who sponsor this event, we are able to hold such a great community event because of their generosity!”
