Multiple families gathered at the Firehouse Art Gallery over the weekend for the Firehouse’s annual Father Daughter Dance. According to executive director Jessica Polsky, approximately 150 attended the event, with local teacher Joseph Kelly serving as DJ. This event serves partially as a fundraiser for the Firehouse, and a portion of the proceeds raised will go to restoring the gallery’s children’s classroom. However, Polsky also described how it began, stating, “Firehouse Arts Center started this event as a way to support families and serve the community and tickets sell out every year.

Polsky said that the event was “as charming as ever,” continuing to say, “It’s a joy to see the dads with their daughters, and for the girls to feel so special for one night at least. We believe what Van Gogh said is true, loving people is the most artistic thing you can do.”

The Firehouse has several other events scheduled in the coming weeks, including their Spring Collection opening night, scheduled for Friday, February 24, doors opening at 5:00 PM for members and at 6:00 PM for the public. The following Friday, March 3, the Firehouse will be hosting a charity gallery for Elephant Aid International, featuring photography of the sanctuary’s elephants, as well as elephant-inspired artwork. Tickets for this event are limited, and a portion of the funds raised will go to support Elephant Aid International. The event lasts from 5:00-7:00 PM.
