James Brooks Tennyson, Jr., 62 of Moultrie passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be Friday, February 3, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Bainbridge Church, 1610 Old Quincy Road, Bainbridge, GA 39817. Born February 9, 1960, he was the son of the late James Brooks Tennyson, Sr., and Nancy Council of Bainbridge, who survives. After graduating from Westwood High School, Camilla, GA, he furthered his education at the University of Georgia, earning a bachelors degree in Journalism. He worked as a reported for the Albany Herald and the Moultrie Observer. Brooks had a brilliant and creative mind with a quick since of humor that would make everyone laugh and smile. He wrote stories and poetry that would bring tears to your eyes and warm your heart with one phrase. Brooks was also very musically inclined with perfect pitch but was so humble about all his gifts. In addition to his mother, he is also survived by his brother, Lee Tennyson (Jessica) of Bainbridge; niece, Salem St. Louis (Edwin), and nephew Eyden St. Louis, all of Miami, Fla.; uncle Don Tennyson (Sandra) of Barhamsville, VA; aunt June Osteen of Blountville, TN; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, James B. Tennyson; step-father Rex Council, grandparents Donahue and Evelyn Tennyson and Joe and Bertha Lee Kelly, aunts and uncles Sally Tennyson Bowen, Joanne Brewer (Louis), Shirley Belcher (Albert) and Earl Osteen.
