Jean Smith Johnson, 70, of Leesburg, formerly of Faceville, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donna Sue Roberts and Pastor Robyn Brown officiating.  Interment will follow at Sylvania Cemetery.

Emma Jean Smith was born November 20, 1952, in Bainbridge, Ga., the daughter of Berry & Jimmie Myrl Mitchell Smith. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1970. She married Philip Johnson, and they made their home in Faceville. She retired from Amoco Fabrics & Fibers. Jean was a member of Sylvania United Methodist Church.

Jean was a homebody. She enjoyed cooking and made the best potato salad you ever put in your mouth. She loved the Georgia Bulldogs and celebrated her back-to-back national championship winning team. Family relationships were strong bonds Jean did not take for granted.

Survivors include her daughter & best friend, Whitney Johnson of Leesburg; her nephew who was like a son, Vance Smith (Matthew); her cousin who was like a brother, Dale Mitchell (Sharon); her sister-in-law, Denise Clark (Roy); and her niece & nephew, Madison Bradley and Carson Tollinchi. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Lee Johnson, and her brothers, Jesse Smith and Kenneth Cloud.
