Work was not something Julius was afraid of. He was a hard-working man who provided for his family. With the skills to fix most anything and the talent of an expert craftsman, Julius was known for his carpentry. As the handyman of the bunch, if it was broken, he was the go-to guy. His dogs served as his confidants and sounding boards for his project ideas.

Survivors include his children, Julius Edward Allen II (Kay) of Brinson, Julia Ann Allen Castro (Michael) of Bainbridge, and Michael John Allen of California; his grandchildren, Julius III, Jade & Jared, Judy & Ronnie, Brandon, Brittany, and Tabitha; his great-grandchildren, Sophia, Joyce and Brenndellyn; his siblings, Betty Jane Donohoe of South Carolina and Charlie James Allen II (Milta) of Ocala, Fla.; and a large extended family. In addition to his parents, Julius was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby John Allen.
