Judy Marie Murphy was born April 11, 1963, in Bainbridge, Ga., the daughter of Hicks & Gloria Joiner Murphy. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1981. Judy continued her studies at Bainbridge Junior College and spent her career in business management with Winn-Dixie, Sellers Oil Company, and Southwest Georgia Oil. She was a member of Sutton Chapel United Methodist Church.

Loud and proud is how Judy lived every day. She was always the clown of the bunch and captured your heart with that unforgettable crooked smile. She never forgot a single thing…ever…and would remind you of the details every time she got you in a crowd. Judy enjoyed making people laugh and was everyone’s friend. If she thought there was a gap she could fill, she did and never looked back. “Judy Mae” was a devoted Christian, daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. Most recently her favorite pastime was Bible study where she not only fellowshipped with others, but found peace for her soul.

Survivors include her children, Donnie H. & Michelle Nettles of Bainbridge, and Grace Ellen & Christopher Penton of Savannah; her grandson, Gunner; her mother, Gloria J. Murphy of Macon; her sister & brother-in-law, Rhonda & Chip Ruffin also of Macon; and her niece & nephew, Jennifer Ruffin and Edward Ruffin III. Judy was preceded in death by her father, Donald Hicks Murphy.
