Last week, the Bainbridge Walk steering committee hosted both Golf and Tennis to END ALZ events. The winning team for the Golf event was Danimer Scientific.  Between the two events, more than $21,000 was raised for the Alzheimer’s Association.  As noted by Rob McRae, Golf coordinator, “We couldn’t ask for a better event. Between the conditions of the course, weather, and volunteers everything went perfect. I just want to send another big thank you out to all the event’s supporters. The generosity of Bainbridge’s local businesses is incredible. We can’t wait to see what the future of this event holds.”

In the Tennis to END ALZ event, Whitney Thomas and Rachel Harrell won the 4.0 division over Leslie Harrell and Myrvin Fain in three closely contested sets. Leigh Cooper and Gina Bell won the 3.5 division against Helen-Jean Thompson and Sarah Brown.  Tim Thompson, tennis event coordinator, stated that “As a tennis community we were happy to partner with golf to help out a cause that affects so many lives. We look forward to partnering with everyone again and are grateful to everyone that helped out.”

The Walk itself is scheduled for Saturday, October 22nd, on the square.  It’s not too late to join an existing team, enter the walk yourself or just donate monies to the cause.  The calendar of events is as follows: Registration and activities, 9:30 a.m.; Opening Ceremony, 10:00 a.m.; and the Walk, 10:30 a.m.   Feel free to come down and cheer on your favorite walkers, listen to good music, and gather information about those affected by Alzheimer’s or their caregivers.
