Mr. Ralph Dean Dobson, 79, of Donalsonville, Ga., passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Memorial services for Mr. Dobson will be held Monday, October 3, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Ivey Funeral Home, Bainbridge, Ga.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Dobson was born on May 22, 1943, to the late Frank Dobson and Betty Catherine Norman Dobson in Dover Hill, Indiana. He was a member of Shoals Christian Church in Shoals, Indiana. Mr. Dobson loved his family, friends, and was a stranger to no one. He loved the outdoors and recreational sports, such as fishing, golfing, basketball and baseball – his teams were always the Indiana Hoosiers and the Cincinnati Reds. He was a lover of his community and founded the Boys and Girls Club in Perry, Fla., later becoming President of the club. He was the President of the Lions Club in Shoals, Indiana. Music and singing were something he loved and would say Elvis Presley was “the King.” He worked for The Post Searchlight for fourteen years. Mr. Dobson was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul Gene Dobson.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 29 years, Ann Dobson; son, Michael (Amy) Dobson; daughters, Karen (Alton) Hendry and Janet Dobson Lukens; stepson, Kristopher Ryan Wolff; stepdaughter, Melissa (Andrew) Wolff; grandchildren, Christen Morgan Dobson, Bethany Grace Dobson, Amanda Kai Ying Dobson, Michael Hunter Dobson, Laurel LaValle, Ben LaValle, Garret Hendry, Casey Lukens, Kelly Lukens, Trey (Robin) Lukens, Lillian Kara Wolff, and Gabriel Ryan Wolff; great grandchildren, Amelia LaValle, Fiona LaValle, Charlie Thomley, Cayden Sadler, Leyton Lukens, Tayven Lukens, and Lowyn Lukens; brother, Rick Dobson; sister, Cheryl (Ray) Norris; nieces and nephews, Curt Dobson, Cheryl Lynn Dobson, Paige Dobson, Brooklyn Dobson, Frank Dobson, Jennifer Bennett and Melissa Klepz; and his fur babies, Piper and Pixie, who were the loves of his life. They were always by his side or in his lap in the recliner. Anything he ate, especially Cheez-It’s, he would share with them.
