Last week, Eugene Jackson was sentenced to life in prison without parole upon conviction of rape. The victim initially made accusations in December of 2019, but the actual crime was said to have taken place roughly around 2001, when the victim was only 9 years old. Due to the statute of limitations, Jackson could only be charged with rape, and not any additional charges pertaining to child sex crimes.

Jackson represented himself against the state. According to DA Chief Investigator Abby Hall, Jackson requested that, if found guilty, he receive life without parole as punishment, as he didn’t want to register as a sex offender afterwards. He also apparently stated that he “wanted his life to be an example to others that molest children.”

Assistant District Attorney Fletcher Mulnix said in a press release that he was “pleased that the victim got justice after such a long time”.
