Margaret was born November 7, 1925, in Decatur County, Ga., the daughter of Billy Whiddon and Mamie Andrews Whiddon. She was a graduate of Faceville High School and a lifetime member of Recovery United Methodist Church.

Margaret was a lifelong homemaker for her husband, children and family. She was a bundle of creative energy that loved flower gardening, decorating her home, cooking/baking, shopping, movies at the theater, excursions to North Carolina and Panama City Beach and tailgating at Florida State football games. She loved to worship and fellowship at Recovery church and was a dedicated and active member for most of her life.

She is also survived by her dear family friend, Peggy Cooper, with whom she shared many memorable moments while raising their families, traveling and taking part in their shared interests.

To the staff at Centre Pointe Health and Rehabilitation, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all those that touched Margaret’s life by caring for her while she was a resident. The family is especially grateful to Mrs. Velma Smith for her above and beyond level of care of Margaret while she was at Centre Pointe.

Also, the family extends its deepest gratitude to Mrs. Betty Hobbs, Margaret’s long-time caregiver. We are certain Betty’s affection and loving care for Margaret not only extended her life with us but brought her joy and reasons to smile, laugh, sing, yell and enjoy a quality of life that would not have occurred had she not been a part of her life.

Survivors include her children, Janice Johns Boyett of Tallahassee, Fla., and Paul D. Johns (Mirasol) of the Recovery Community; her grandchildren, Paul Boyett (Jill), Patricia Boyett, Cynthia B. Binns (John), Paul M. Johns (Kacie), Ashley Johns, Sarah Johns, and Jewel Johns; her great-grandchildren, Terry, Kyle, Aidan, Emma, Mary Madeline, Emaline, and Abigail.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Paul W. Johns.
