Danny Ray Ritter, 66, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Friday, July 22, 2022.

The funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Bainbridge Church of God with Pastor Dana Swain and Pastor Gerald Trotman officiating. Pastor Ryan Carnes, though not present in body, was present in spirit. Interment followed at Calvary Assembly of God Cemetery with Gerald Trotman, Jamie Trotman, Ronnie Ritter, Jr., Ryan Maloy, Chris Roland, and Levi Crawford serving as active pallbearers. Cameron Ritter, Zachary Trotman, and Ren Stewart served as honorary pallbearers.

Danny Ray Ritter was born June 15, 1956, in Donalsonville, Ga., the son of Trudie & Charlie Ritter, Sr. He married Theresa Howell in 1996, and they made their home in Bainbridge. Danny Ray worked for the City of Bainbridge for 33 years as Parks & Recreation supervisor. He was an active member of Bainbridge Church of God.

Danny Ray loved his family, his God, and his church. He touched many lives through his singing at church and with his gospel group, Sounds of Calvary. They traveled all over Georgia bearing witness to many miracles and healings through the Holy Spirit, their music and testimonies. Generations of families knew Danny Ray from the ball fields and described him as a friend you could count on. He served as the unofficial caretaker for Oak City Cemetery and Jonas Lobe Cemetery based on his knowledge and skills. In his spare time, Danny Ray loved to hunt and fish in the community he called home.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Theresa Ritter; his children, Christina Ritter & Tyler Lloyd of Bainbridge, and A.J. & Laura Ritter of Quincy, Fla.; his siblings, Elizabeth Ritter, Charlie & Rhonda Ritter, Ronnie & Kathy Ritter, Viola Griffin, Barbara & Jerry Nalls, and Judy Phillips; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his siblings, Larry Ritter, Lamar Ritter, Elaine Ritter, and Charlotte Ritter; and his brothers-in-law, Bob Howard, Paschal Phillips, and Andy Barrineau.

The Ritter Family extends their sincere appreciation to Darlene Morris and Agape Care Group for their kindness and compassion.
