David Alvin Tharp was born September 8, 1949, in Bainbridge, Ga., the son of Thomas A. & Adell Barber Tharp. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. David retired from Steward Machine and was a member of West Bainbridge Baptist Church.

Riding by David’s house gave away two of his favorite activities: fishing—the boat was usually hooked to the truck—and gardening—his flowers were always on point. He enjoyed mud bogging and woodworking when he wasn’t working. David rarely passed by a yard sale without stopping. In his mind “one man’s trash was another man’s treasure”.

Survivors include his children, Cheryl & Chas Harrell and Jeff Tharp all of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Carson, Megan, and Grayson; and his siblings, Mike Tharp of Alabama and Mary Blair of Bainbridge. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Benny Tharp, and his grandchildren, Tyler & Talor.
