Gary Wayne Floyd was born June 24, 1954, in Walton County, Florida, the son of J.W. “Shorty” and Betty Bailey Floyd. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School. He married Diane Miller in 1972, and they made their home in Bainbridge. Gary co-owned Floyd Brothers with his brother, Mike, for many years. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Gary was a godly man who served others as a Shriner and Mason. Many sought his wise counsel, and he always made time to share. His priorities in life were God first then family. Gary’s grands and great-grands enjoyed every second of making memories and learning life lessons that will help them develop into the people they are called to be. He loved westerns, gospel music, and most any animal. Gary stood in awe of the Creator and His creation with a special reminder each time he saw a sprout break ground in the spring.

Survivors include his children, Gerald Duane Floyd and Ashby “Pudge” Floyd (Nita) all of Bainbridge; his siblings, Mike Floyd, Deb Strickland (Ringo), Ivey Stott (Bob), Lisa Floyd, and Tim Floyd (Kathy); his grandchildren, Alyssa & Austin, Drew, Jacob & Emily, and Samantha; his great-grandchildren, Bryson & Grace; his faithful canine companion, Hardie; and a host of extended family.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Diane Miller Floyd; and his siblings, Cheryl Floyd Dicks and Ronnie Floyd.
