Eddie L. Blocker, II of Robertsdale, Ala., passed away on May 20, 2022, at the age of 83 after a valiant battle with cancer. A private interment will be held at Cool Spring Cemetery.
Ed was born September 2, 1938, in Fowlstown, Ga. Ed graduated from Quincy High School in 1956. He developed an incredibly strong work ethic quite young. He spent his summers as a young boy working in tobacco fields and peanut patches. At the age of sixteen, he secured his first job as stockboy at the local IGA. However, Ed’s entrepreneurial spirit soon led him to work for himself as a successful painting contractor for nearly four decades. He closed shop on his lucrative painting business in 1994, but he did not stop working. Instead, he obtained his commercial driver’s license, bought a large semi-tractor and trailer truck, and drove tirelessly and relentlessly until 2013, when he finally retired at the age of 74.
Ed enjoyed fishing and putting on a good fish fry for his friends. He also enjoyed spending time with family. Ed cherished most the time spent with his kids, whether vacationing on Lake Blackshear in a log cabin, relaxing in front of the TV with a good old western, or playing board games and telling funny jokes. His happiest memories were those spent with his children in the warmth and comfort of the good home he provided for them.
Ed was a member of the Park Circle congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Charleston, S.C. from 2013 to 2019 where he served with a glad heart as a full-time evangelizer and servant of his heavenly Father, Jehovah. He loved Jehovah and sharing the good news from the Bible with his friends and neighbors. In 2019, he moved to the Robertsdale, Ala., congregation where he continued to serve with his brothers and sisters, working side by side with them in the public ministry, until the very end of his life.

A virtual memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers or sympathy cards please consider posting your sentiments to Ed’s memorial wall on legacy.com.
