L.D. Miller was born September 23, 1934, in Donalsonville, Ga., the son of O.C. and Myrtice Yawn Miller. He was a graduate of Seminole County High School. L.D. proudly served his country in the United States Army. His tour took him to Germany for three years where he worked as a dental technician. When he returned home, L.D. worked at the Colonial Food Store for a period then spent 32 years with Terminex. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served with the love of his life, Martha Miller.
Known to many in Southwest Georgia for his work ethic and giving spirit, L.D. Miller lived the mantra, “My word is my bond.” If L.D. Miller said it, you could bank on it. He was always busy doing something in the yard, at the church, at work, or for someone else. He loved gardening and sharing his bounty with friends and neighbors. Every now and then he would slip off to do a little fishing.
Survivors include his wife of almost 54 years, Martha Lee Miller; his children, Tawana & Jimmy Drake of Donalsonville, Kathy & Irby Gilder of Cataula, and Kay & Jack Cothren of Albany; his brother John D. Miller of Iron City; his twelve grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family. In addition to his parents, L.D. was preceded in death by his sons, William Mills and Cliff Mills, and his brother, James Miller.
