Leslie Denise Snipes was born November 29, 1971, in Bainbridge, Ga., the daughter of Robert & Barbara Mathis Snipes. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1990. Leslie earned degrees from Bainbridge College, Valdosta State University, and a master’s degree from Troy University. She taught kindergarten for most of her 25-year career at John Johnson Elementary School and most recently at Hutto Elementary School. Leslie spent her off hours at Barber Family Farms. She was recognized as Decatur County Ag Woman of the Year in 2005 after her family proudly represented Decatur County as the 2002 Georgia Farm Family of the Year. Leslie was a member of First Baptist Church.

Quiet, private, independent, and a little strong willed in spirit, Leslie could hold order when necessary. She was easy going, following her children to every livestock show and baseball game on the schedule, but quick to “Mama Bear” up if required. She loved her animals, especially her dogs, saltwater fishing, and working in the yard. Faith, family, and the farm were celebrated every day, and she leaves a legacy of “doing right”.

Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Jeff Barber; her children, Taylor & Jake Barber; her parents, Robert & Barbara Snipes of Bainbridge; her brother, Rob Snipes, and his wife, Dawn, of Rincon, Ga.; her sister-in-law, Shelva Gibson of Colquitt; her niece & nephew, Anna & Andrew Snipes; and a host of extended family. Leslie was preceded in death by grandparents.
