Funeral services for Janie Lou Hawthorn Brown, 77, of Climax, Ga., are at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Magnolia Baptist Church, Whigham, Ga. Rev. Jimmy Ausburn will officiate. Interment will be in Hawthorne Cemetery, Whigham, Ga. Mrs. Brown passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Fla., on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

Mrs. Brown was born on May 26, 1944, in Whigham, Ga., to the late Willian “W.A.” Hawthorn and Lila Harrison Hawthorn. She retired from the Georgia Industries for the Blind in Bainbridge, Ga. She was a member of the Magnolia Baptist Church in Whigham.

Survivors include: her partner of many years, Willard Sholar of Climax, Ga.; grandchildren, Stephanie McCook (Kevin) of Bainbridge, Ga., Luke Brown (Jennifer) Bainbridge, Ga., Andrew Scott (Taylor) of Climax, Ga., Matthew Logue of Bainbridge, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Chloe McCook, Kelsey McCook, Easton McCook, Grayson Arthur, Oaklynn Scott; sisters, Mary Singletary of Grovetown, Ga., Elizabeth Godwin of Cairo, Ga., Ethel Gainous of Cairo, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Nathelyn Hawthorn of Cairo, Ga., Gloria Gean Hawthorn of Harlem, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her son, Lester Brown; brothers, Elmer Hawthorn, Herman Hawthorn, William Hawthorn, Leroy Hawthorn; and sister, Dorothy Hawthorn, Geneva Hawthorn.
