Last Friday saw people gather at The Avenues for the ribbon cutting of yet another new Bainbridge business. Located at 715 East Calhoun Street, next door to Bonnie Blue House, Annelle’s Attic is an antique and furniture store owned by Nancy Moye. Having been a stay-at-home mom and part-time gymnastics coach with Murkerson’s for the past decade, with all her children now in school, Moye decided she needed something to do during the day.

“I actually started at a little booth, like a little antique mall-type thing with my dad, and then that kind of grew, so I said ‘You know what, I’ll just open my own store,’” Moye recounted to the Post-Searchlight. She named the store after her mother, who she says took her to countless thrift stores and yard sales while growing up.

The shop truly is a family business, as Moye’s daughter Lillian also sells homemade soap and other bath products at the shop as well, dubbed “Lillian’s Little Soap Company.”

According to her, the initial community reception has been positive. “For the most part, everybody that comes in finds something they like, and has good words of encouragement.”

Moye acquires her stock from a variety of sources, including yard sales, estate sales, and even Facebook Marketplace. “I had bought out two estate sales, and that made my storage building at my house kind of overflowing, so that’s where I started, that’s when I decided ‘This is more than my little booth can handle.’”

Annelle’s Attic is open from 10 AM to 6 PM, Wednesday through Friday, and 9 AM to 3 PM on Saturday, and can be reached at 229-220-4271.
