Jack spent years working in the family grocery business while deciding on a career. He chose helping others as a way of life serving his community as a firefighter and paramedic. He loved people (especially the grandchildren he spoiled on occasion), tent camping, and reading anything he could get his hands on. Jack held strong opinions and didn’t mind sharing a word with whomever would listen. Grandchildren were the highlight of his existence in recent years, and he reveled in being “that grandpa” amongst the crowd at their activities.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Brenda Hudson Routon; his children, Tonya & Edward Reynolds and Heath & Paige Routon; his grandchildren, Kyle, Kaden, Caroline, Adella, McCoy, Raegan, Griffin & Amy, Hudson, and Mary Mercer; and his siblings, Barbara (Leon) Nestlehutt and Dr. Jim (Emmaline) Routon. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, John Routon.
