First National Bank’s First Adventurers Travel Club members recently enjoyed a Northern Lights Alaska Tour. The tour began in Fairbank, Alaska, including the Fountainhead Auto Museum, the Alyeska Pipeline, Dog Sled Rides, the Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitor Center, the World Ice Art Championship, and a few enjoyed a small engine plane ride to the Arctic Circle. The group then traveled by way of the Alaska Railroad to Talkeetna, Alaska, for an overnight stay, then to Palmer, Alaska. The tour ended with a visit to Prince William Sound to see the Majestic Beloit Glacier and a farewell dinner before departing Anchorage, Alaska, for home.

“What an awesome trip with amazing people,” said Lorenda Smith, Senior Vice President & Director of Retail and Marketing for First National Bank. “Each day, I would say, this has been my favorite activity. However, the next day, the activity seemed to top it. I honestly believe the dog sled ride was the perfect way to begin this adventure. No one had ever done that before; you could hear the screams of laughter as each pair began with their team of dogs and mushers. The train ride from Fairbanks to Talkeetna was like traveling through the wilderness. We saw beautiful snow-covered mountains, frozen lakes, rivers, and wildlife. We saw dwellings covered with snow from time to time and wondered if anyone lived there. But then the train would stop and pick a few people up for what we were told could be a day’s journey to gather supplies.”

“With all the beauty we saw, the wonderful time we spent together sharing stories about our families was my favorite. I’m positive that friendships were made that will last long after the trip,” Smith ended.
