Lady Cats beat TCC Lady Jackets for first time since 2003

The Lady Cats made another mark in the Bearcat history books when they defeated the Thomas County Lady Jackets 3-1 on March 1, 2022 for the second time in school history.

The first half was a hard fought battle between the Lady Cat and Lady Jackets where keeper Halle Cannon defended the goal from several shots by the Lady Jackets. The 1st half ended with a score of 0-0.

However, it didn’t take long in the second half for the Lady Cats to make their mark when, in the 7th minute senior Evelyn Mach sent a corner kick into a mass of players and senior Nathaly Rodriguez headed the ball into the goal to make the score 1-0. The two teamed up again in minute 16 of the second half when midfielder Evelyn Mach sent the ball to Nathaly where she sent it into the goal and through the keeper’s finger tips.

TCC scored in the 27 minute of the half to make the score 2-1. The Lady Cat’s victory was sealed when midfielder Evelyn Mach dribbled down field and sent the ball into TCC’s goal making the score 3-1.

The victory was definitely a team effort with senior goalie Halle Cannon making some amazing saves that helped secure the Lady Cats’ victory over the Lady Jackets for the first time since 2003.
