Betty Jo Green Thomas, 77, of Crawfordville, Fla., formerly of Climax, Ga., passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Brock Cemetery with Rev. David Grubbs officiating.  Lee Green, Jeff Green and Betty’s grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Betty Jo Green was born February 1, 1944, in Bainbridge, Ga., the daughter of James & Adell Brock Green. She was a graduate of Attapulgus High School, Class of 1961. She retired from United States Postal Service after serving many years as the Post Mistress in Climax, Ga., and also worked at Family Bank. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Betty was a loving person always giving of her time and resources. Her nature was to nurture and that she did well. Her husband, children and grandchildren knew they came first in her life and will cherish the memories shared along the way. Betty had a green thumb as evidenced by her yard. She believed “bloom where you are planted” and helped not only her flowers, but her people, to do just that.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Delroy Thomas; her children, Gail Thomas Nelson (Brian) of Crawfordville, and Suzanne Thomas Allen (Jeff) of North Carolina; her grandchildren, Thomas & Kerri, Cera & Shaun, Alex, and Rachel; her great-grandchildren, Cali & Thomas; her siblings, Jerry (Kay) Green of Moultrie, Ga., and Jackie Bradford of Jacksonville, Fla.; her sister-in-law, Roseanne Green; her brother-in-law, Cat Veloz; and a host of extended family. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her siblings, Jimmy Green, Jr. and Janice Veloz.
