Spring Hill Tree Farm recently put out an announcement for their upcoming Spring Hill Express Christmas event. Themed around the film “The Polar Express”, the event is scheduled for Saturday, December 11, starting at 5:00 p.m. and will feature a visit from Santa, a “Polar Express”-themed hayride, and a showing of the actual film at 7:45 that evening.

According to owner Dan Provence, the event was originally intended to be just for locals, but their initial announcement post drew more attention than they expected. “

It was just meant to be something for local people to come to,” he said. “We put a post about it out, and one post reached 60,000 people on Facebook. It had 660 shares, I mean it’s just gone viral.”

Since the increased interest, Spring Hill has begun selling tickets to the event, which can be purchased on their website, www.springhilltreefarm.com. Tickets are $10 per person.

“We were wanting to do something for Christmas,” Provence said. “People were asking us, because we’ll have Santa Claus here and everything. A young man (Adron Ingle) that I hired as a manger to help me during October… he came up with the idea, after we gave him the green light for it.”

A professional photographer will also be present at the event and taking pictures of children with Santa.

According to Provence, some people actually believed a train would be at the event, and wanted to make it clear it would be a hayride. “They need to bring either a chair or a quilt,” Provence also said, as the movie will be projected in a grassy meadow. Concessions will also be available at the event.
