Will Parker, assistant band director for Bainbridge High School, graduated from Troy University in 2012, having served as drum major in 2011. Last month, he was contacted by Tim Sims, president of Troy University Alumni Band, with an offer to direct the Alumni band at this past Saturday’s football game.

This particular Alumni band performance was in celebration of the current band director, Dr. Mark Walker’s, 10 years of service, with Parker being the first drum major under Walker’s leadership.

According to Parker, there was a wide range of alumni present, with the youngest in their twenties, while the oldest alumni performing that day was 73 years old.

“It was rewarding,” Parker said. “It was fun to get back to college and see a bunch of folks I haven’t seen in a while and do something I liked to do in college.”
