Mr. Perry Winfred Hurst, Sr., age 83, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021, at his home in Cairo, Georgia. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 11, at Long Branch Baptist Church. Rev. Jeff Ezell will officiate. Interment will follow in Union Hill Cemetery, 2232 SR-93, Pelham, Georgia 31779 (North Grady County). John Tillis, Dennis White, Kevin Strickland, Jeremy Mills, Randy Griffin, and Jonathan Jimenez will serve as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class of Long Branch Baptist Church, Johnny Mack Butler, Bill Elkins, Jerry Carroll, Marty Smith, Carl Lee, Howard Crawford, and Larry Hudson. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Long Branch Baptist Church.

Winfred Hurst was born April 19, 1938, in Grady County, Georgia to Henry Hurst and Beatrice Gilliard Hurst. He graduated from Cairo High School. Winfred loved to be outdoors and hunt and fish. He was a hardworking man and worked as a plumber. Mr. Hurst was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. Winfred dearly loved his family. He was the kind of person everyone wanted to be his friend. Winfred Hurst will be deeply missed by his family and many, many friends.

Perry Winfred Hurst, Sr. is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Perry Winfred Hurst, Jr. and wife Wendy, Pamela Folsom and husband, Lynwood, and Sheri Odum; sister, Frances Baggett; brother, Rob Hurst; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Holly Hurst; children, Suzette Hurst and  Judy Cook; and brother, Henry Eugene Hurst.
