Michael Vance Duke was born March 3, 1962, in Bainbridge, Ga., the son of Vance & Judith Martin Duke. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1980. He married Jo Macy in 1981 and they made their home in Faceville. Michael earned certifications as an electrician from Lively Vo Tech and as a paramedic from Thomas Tech.  He was a lifelong member of Faceville Baptist Church.

Michael was not one to mince words. He had strong opinions and was pretty straightforward when sharing them. Michael’s dry sense of humor left him looking like, “What?” as everyone else was trying to recover from laughing so hard. His heart was for people, especially those in need. He took it upon himself to care for the widows in his community. Michael changed careers because the tug on his heart was to help others. He was proud of his small farm and cattle but felt the best title ever was “Papa”.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Jo Macy Duke; his children, Michael Tristan & Dori Duke and Caleb Granger & Savannah Duke, all of Faceville; his siblings, Camille Duke of Crawfordville, Fla., Colin & Amy Duke of Eatonton, Ga., Sheila & Derek McCrea of Columbus, Ga., and Amy Duke of Oak Harbor, Wash.; his grandson, Elijah; his faithful canine companion, Pouncey Jerome Duke; and a host of extended family. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his son, Shaun Macy Duke, and his brother, Kyle Duke.
