Kenneth Ray Kirkland was born November 13, 1969, in Melbourne, Fla., the son of Melvin & Sandra Hudson Kirkland. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and ABAC Police Academy. Kenny married Teresa Rich in 2001 and they made their home in Colquitt. He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church.

Known as a gentle giant, Kenny had a difficult time saying no. In fact, he volunteered for ten years as the band equipment manager and never missed a single game. He was an avid woodworker and master craftsman. Kenny enjoyed the outdoors and told tall tales of his hunting and fishing expeditions. His servant’s heart led him to a career in law enforcement, most recently serving as Chief of Police in Colquitt. Those that knew him realized he could hold his own but was really a tender heart.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Teresa Kirkland; their children Ashley Glen & Lindsay Anderson of Bainbridge, Ga., and Brian Anderson & Dana Tomlinson of Colquitt, Ga.; his grandchildren, Lydia, Isabella, and Marley; his brother, David Kirkland and his wife, Bethany; and a host of extended family. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents.
