The Firehouse Arts Center hosted its annual Southwest Georgia Art Show on Thursday, August 18 with a record 51 featured artists and over 150 pieces of art. Lynn Davis, Art Director and coordinator of the show, stated that she was very pleased with the number of artists who entered their work.

“The show has grown every year since we began having a regional show,” she said. “We had artists from Bainbridge and Decatur County, Cairo, Thomasville, Quincy, Tallahassee and other parts of the southwest Georgia, north Florida area. We are excited that people are seeing what we are doing in Bainbridge!”

The reception was attended by a number of supporters. When Davis came on board as the Art Director, she suggested the Member Show become a regional show in order to include a larger number of participants. Over the three years, the show has grown in number under her direction. Normally held in January, the pandemic interfered and the 2020 show and the January 2021 show had to be postponed. The next show will move back to January 2022, if conditions are safe at that time.

“We want to keep everyone safe so that will be the major consideration in planning the 2022 show,” she said. “We encouraged guests to maintain safe distancing and to wear masks at the show this year. I think everyone did a great job with this and enjoyed the show.”

The exhibit will be open on August 27, 28 and 29 from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Participating artists will pick up their art at 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 29.
