Mr. Joseph Wesley Williams, Sr., age 67, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida. Services for Mr. Williams will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 14, 2021, at the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home. The funeral will conclude at the chapel. Mr. Williams will be interred in Roselawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 1:00.

Due to ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to wear protective masks in accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines.

Joseph Wesley Williams, Sr., Dad, Pa, AKA Batman to the neighborhood kids, was born in Thomasville, Georgia, on September 21, 1953. Joe grew up in Perry, Florida, where he attended Taylor County High School. In 1976 he graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in electrical engineering. Joe worked in his field for 40 years. He divided those years between Amoco, American Fibers, Propex Fabrics, Meridian Bioplastics, and Amkin. A man of many mysteries and few words, Joe loved the beach and walking to the beat of his music. He won many national championships of Trivia Crack. He was a lover of all animals, especially the neighborhood cats. Joe was an avid Gator fan and loved playing pool. Above all, he loved his wife and kids, but his heart belonged to his grandchildren.

He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Phyllis Williams; daughters, Rebecca White (Noah) of Seymour, Tennessee, and Melissa Baggett (Jason) of West Liberty, Ohio; son, Joe Williams of Bainbridge, Georgia; grandchildren, Zack Hand, Ethan Hand, Rylan Baggett, Adyson Baggett, Allison Paige Burke, Rylie Williams, Cohen Williams, and Everly Lodge; his mother, Newana Williams of Bainbridge; siblings, Julie Reifsynder of Lakeland, Florida, Jerri (Jeannie) Harrell of Bainbridge, and James Williams (Linda) of Loganville, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Williams, and mother-in-law, Corine Cook.
