The Thomas M. and Irene B. Kirbo Charitable Foundation selected Georgia Youth Science & Technology Centers, Inc. for two donations within FY 2021 (July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021). The first donation of $10,000, made on September 14, 2020, and the second donation of $15,000, made on June 7, 2021, is designated to go towards helping support Southwest GYSTC in Bainbridge, Georgia.

The Georgia Youth Science & Technology Center (GYSTC) is a private, not-for-profit educational organization designed to increase interest in and enthusiasm for science, technology, engineering and math subjects (STEM). Since 1989, GYSTC has focused on providing programs to improve the teaching and learning process in STEM education for K-8 teachers and students, specifically in the rural and underserved school districts of Georgia. GYSTC’s professional learning opportunities for teachers and hands-on activities for students and parents are designed to change perceptions and introduce STEM related careers to students at an early age. GYSTC services are available to all K-8 teachers and students of Georgia.

GYSTC is a network of ten regional centers, addition to the state office, that provides these quality programs: Family STEM Nights/Days, Discovery Camps, After School Activities, Saturday Science, In-class Field Trips and Professional Learning. Your support will help us continue to build teachers and students’ interest in STEM subjects and related careers.
