James Allen Reece, 69, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Emory University Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Southwind Plantation with Dr. Vic Hill and Rev. Lynn Roberts officiating. A private interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery.  Matt Miller, Mark Mitchell, Landin Marzolf, Brian Parker, Gary Phillips and Winston Brock, Jr. will serve as active pallbearers.  Charles Griffin, Ronald Lyndsey, Chuck Lynn, Wiley Griffin, Roger Whitworth, Cliff Bailey, David Burton, Tim Smith, George Nour, Kevin Bellflower, Stephen Culverson, Alan Davis, Bruce Herndon, Randy Hill, Bob Joyce, Kyle Odom, Ashley Gardener, Rob Cohen, Darrel Willis, Larry Ulmer, Martin Bius and Buck Heard will serve as honorary pallbearers. James requested casual attire for all, no coats and ties.

James was born January 25, 1952 in Woodstock, Ga., the son of Franklin and Geneva Reece.  He was a graduate of Cherokee County High School, Class of 1970, and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, and the University of Georgia.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bainbridge.

James was a retired Senior Vice President and Lending Officer for First National Bank of Decatur County.  He was a former lending officer for Southwest Georgia Farm Credit and a Young Farmer Advisor for Decatur, Mitchell, and Lanier Counties.  James’ first love was people and he never met a stranger.  He was an avid fan of University of Georgia sports.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the great outdoors.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Beverly Vines Reece of Bainbridge; his children, Allison Reece Harrell (Bill) of Climax, Ga., Kiley Stewart Henderson (Kyle) of Bainbridge, and Sutton Reece of Bainbridge; and his grandchildren, William Harrell and Cole Henderson.
