Mr. Gene A. Ouzts

Mr. Gene A. Ouzts, age 82, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home in Climax, Georgia. Services for Mr. Ouzts were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 19, at the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home. Elder Phillip Howell and Ch (MAJ) Drew Billingsley officiated. Caylor Ouzts, Robb Ouzts, Mark Phillips, Eric Reynolds, Joseph Kelly, and Lloyd Seals served as pallbearers. Ronald Ouzts, Luther Reynolds, Todd Stimpson, Eddie Josey, and Sam Billingsley served as honorary pallbearers. Interment followed in Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends one hour before the service, beginning at 10.

Gene Autry Ouzts was born February 4, 1939, at his parents’ home in the Midway Community of Grady County Georgia. His parents, James William (Dud) Ouzts and Annie Miller Ouzts, have preceded him in death. Gene married Jean Ann Boyett. He and the love of his life shared 60 years together. Gene was a man of few words. He was very talented and worked hard. A master carpenter and electrician, he retired from the Maintenance Department of Bainbridge College. He was a dedicated member of Community Primitive Baptist Church where he served as deacon and church clerk. A gentle and loving man, he overcame whatever obstacles his disability produced. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Mr. Ouzts is survived by his wife, Jean Ann Boyett Ouzts of Climax; son, James Deryl Ouzts of Climax; grandchildren, Robb Ouzts, Hannah Ouzts, and Megan Ouzts of Thomasville, Georgia; siblings, Wylene Harrison (Larry) of Bainbridge and Rufus Ouzts (Betty) of Cairo, Georgia. and numerous nieces and nephews.
