Ernest Eugene Maxwell was born November 16, 1960 in Bainbridge, the son of Clifford Bronwood Sr. and Mattie Crowe Maxwell. He married Sherrie Faircloth in 1980 and they made their home in Bainbridge. Gene worked with Cherokee Equipment and attended Beulah Thomas Baptist Church.

Gene loved all sports and had quite a competitive spirit. He enjoyed working in his garden, tending his plants, and cleaning yards. He wanted his yard in order and probably even compared the piles he raked to the ones others raked. Of course Gene bragged on his grandchildren as the best to ever be born and spent many hours playing and making memories.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sherrie Faircloth Maxwell; his children, Chasity Maxwell & Jeff of Marianna, Fla., Anthony Maxwell & Crystal, and Benjamin Maxwell & Kaitlyn, all of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Dawson, Dakota, Paysli, Jace, Keigan, Hunter, Kendall, and Jaicy; and his siblings, Lamar Maxwell, Edna Faye Colvin, Bert Calhoun, Clifford B. Maxwell, Jr., Nora Kaye Ramer, Myra Maxwell, Sue Ellen Dapsi, Donald Maxwell, Linda Johns, Kimberly Lane, James Maxwell, Edith Lewis, and Danny Maxwell. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry Landron Maxwell and Charles Lynwood Maxwell.

Max Bryant and the staff of Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home are assisting the family with arrangements.
