Superintendent Tim Cochran wins President’s Award during Spring Bootstrap Conference

Decatur County Superintendent Tim Cochran attended the Georgia School Superintendents Association (GSSA) Annual Spring Bootstrap Conference in Savannah, Ga. this week, where he was awarded the GSSA President’s Award.
These awards are given to Superintendents for outstanding leadership in their school systems and communities.
Cochran said in order to be awarded this he had to nominated by RESA. He said typically RESA will nominate six Superintendents throughout the state, who are then awarded at the conference.
“It’s nice to be recognized, but I know there are many great Superintendents out there who are doing great work for our kids,” Cochran said. Cochran’s outstanding leadership stems up to the executive level as he is a part of the Governor’s Task Force.
During the conference, Cochran said he and the rest of the task force got to meet with the Governor, where they heard updates on COVID-19 and funding for the upcoming year. They also got to meet with the executive director about impactful legislation that may be of importance for the next school year.
Cochran said the conference provided him with ample information and resources to better serve Decatur County and he looks forward to sharing the information with the Board of Education in their upcoming May meeting.
