Claude Nathaniel (Nathan) Salter, age 90, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge, Georgia.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 27 at Pine Forest Cemetery, Climax, Georgia.  The Revs. Conrad Salter and Tommy McNair will officiate.  The family will receive friends following the service.

Claude Nathaniel (Nathan) Salter was born June 4, 1930 to the late Paul E. Salter and Temptie Thompson Salter of Decatur County, Georgia.  Nathan proudly served in the United Sates Army.  He worked at Engelhard Mineral and Chemical Company for 38 years.  Nathan loved his Lord, his family, and his church.  He served the Lord through singing and leading music at Pine Forest Baptist Church (over 35 years) and Liberty Baptist Church.  He served as a music minister for over 50 years.  Along with his brothers, J.D., Joe, and Spencer, he sang in a quartet for over 31 years.  He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Claude Nathaniel Salter is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ida Lou Godwin Salter; children, Kenneth (Charlotte) Salter of Whigham, Georgia, Garry (Karon) Salter of Cairo, Paul (Phyllis) Salter of Colquitt, Georgia, Donna (Eddie) Green of Bainbridge, and Brenda Miller of Slocomb, Alabama.  Nathan has 11 grandchildren, with 3 of those awaiting him in Heaven.  He has 18 great-grandchildren.  He is survived by siblings, Joe Salter of Climax, Georgia, J. D. Salter, Edna Brock, and Mildred McNair, all of Bainbridge.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Temptie Salter; brothers, William and Spencer Salter; grandchildren, Sean, Christy, and Katie.  Katie joined hands with her granddad just a few hours after he departed.
