The Bainbridge- Decatur County Chamber of Commerce and Development Authority have partnered together to put on a multi-industry job fair after discussing the employment needs of multiple industries in Bainbridge.

“We felt like we could get the word out about multiple jobs if we lumped them all together in one job fair, instead of each industry looking for people individually,” Chamber president Lauren Minor said. “That’s how we came up with the idea.”

The job fair will feature positions available at eight different industries including A-1 Roof Trusses, City of Bainbridge, Danimer Scientific, John B. Sanfilippo & Sons, Metro Power, Steward Machine, Suber Products and Taurus.

Taurus will have the most positions available with 80 openings.

The industries hiring are featuring mostly production-level jobs, Minor said. Applicants are encouraged to bring a resume.

The jobs will require various levels of skill, so first-time applicants can enter the field and grow with a company, while seasoned employees will be needed for welding and C&C operators.

Some of the industries attending are willing to train those interested. All who are hired will receive in house training, while some may receive additional technical training, dependent upon skill level.

“This will be the first hiring event that A-1 Roof Trusses has attended, this will be their first big push for hiring and are looking for a C&C Machine Operator and wood truss assemblers, among many others,” Minor said.

The total number of jobs offered at the job fair will be approximately 100, but Minor said she sees this as a good problem to have.

“The available positions bring workforce to Bainbridge and ultimately strengthens our economy,” she said. “For the longest time, you heard people say “we need jobs,” but now we have good paying, quality jobs.”

Minor said she expects to see individuals from around the region.

“We expect to see people from Florida, Alabama, Thomas County, Miller County and around the region coming to attend the job fair,” she finished.

The job fair will be held on March 24, at the Charles H. Kirbo Center from 1- 6:30 p.m. Masks are required to attend this in-person event.
