Cats Attack at first gymnastics meet

The Bainbridge Gymnast-A-Cats were on the attack in their first meet of the year in Macon.

Kaylee Kale was outstanding in her first meet ever. Winning 1st place on vault and uneven bars, she won 2nd place on balance beam and floor exercise and 1st place All-around with a score of 36.900.

Mia Rosario won 2nd on vault and uneven bars, 5th place on the balance beam, 4th on floor exercise and 2nd place All-around with a score of 36.250.

Emily Brock won 8th place on vault, 7th place on the uneven bars, 8th place on floor exercise and 8th place All-around with a score of 32.500.

Michelle Smith won 2nd on vault, 1st on the uneven bars, 1st on the balance beam, 5th on floor exercise, and 1st place All-around. These four girls make up the Xcel Bronze Team.

Coach Murkerson said, “They were on fire!”

They were the winning team out of the six teams.

Cadee Samons, the only Silver Excel to compete for the Cats, won 2nd on vault, 7th on the uneven bars, 7th on the balance, 7th on floor exercise, and 3rd All-around with a score of 35.650.

The Xcel Gold team had Kara Overman and Emily Engram competing for the Cats. Overman placed 4th on floor exercise, and 7th place All-around. Engram placed 5th on the uneven bars, 3rd on the balance beam, 1st on floor exercise, and 5th place All-around.

Dhara Patel, the only Xcel Diamond to compete for the Cats, won 1st place on vault, 2nd on the uneven bars, 2nd on the balance beam, 2nd on floor exercise, and placed 2nd All-around.

The Cats were missing five gymnasts due to Covid. These gymnasts will be back in action in Macon later this month, hopefully they are stronger and ready to compete!
